I find my lack of two hand dexterity means I can load and fire a single shot rifle easier and faster than I can load magazines. I have seen conversion kits available for some magazine feed rifles that are really just a piece that sits in the top of the magazine, allowing the shooter to insert rounds smoothly one at a time, with the magazine in place, effectively turning it into a single shot rifle. Does any member here know of such a conversion kit/feed platform that will work with a Savage 93R17?

I haven't heard of one, but given how simple a piece of hardware the Savage magazine is, it would seem straight-forward enough to just make one and install it in the magazine in place of follower and spring.
Two loudest sounds in the world:
1 - A firing pin on a loaded chamber that's supposed to be empty.
2 - A firing pin on an empty chamber that's supposed to be loaded.

I will try to contact him. Do you know if he makes an adapter for a 93R17? Its magazines are different from those for the model described in his post on RFC. They are not interchangable. Oh, and thanks for the reply.

I honestly have no idea. I overlooked that the 93r17 is a .17 hmr variant of the mark II and not .22lr.

I do make adapters that work with either the Mark II (.22LR/17HM2) or Savage 93 (17HMR/22WMR). Each rifle uses a different way of retaining the magazine. The Mark II uses a tab and magazine well, while the 93 uses a tab and guide bar. Here are the differences between the two:
Savage Mark II

Savage 93

Randal,
Yesterday at the range, Gary C showed me the single shot adapter that he got from you. Oddly enough, it would not fit in my 93R17. After looking closely, we discovered that the magazine guide bar on his newer rifle is tapered at the tip to help feed the magazine into the rifle, where the guide bar on my pre-accutrigger model is not tapered.
Have you ever found this problem, in the past?
PS: I am onearm on RFC and my friends call me Don.

I can't comment on the .17, but the one I got for my MKII 22LR fits and works fantastic.
