I am trying to find out if it is legal to sell just a barrel in the for sale forum without having to do it through an FFL Dealer. I was wondering if that applied to just complete rifles & actions or anything related to firearms? Can some one please help me out here????
Thank You
Dan

I just received a barrel through the us mail from tactical solutions with out having to go through a FFL dealer. If it has a action attached from what I understand then it has to go through a FFL dealer.

Dan,
I'm 99.9% certain you can sell any part direct other than a receiver or a Class III device. A barrel is not a problem unless it has a suppressor.

rule of thumb for firearms is if it has serial number on it it has restrictions on it. most states long guns face to face, no ffl needed. over state lines ffl needed. short guns depends on state. pennsylvania, ffl needed. across state lines ffl needed. barrels, stock, assorted small parts, no legal legal restrictions. now site rules, i don't know.

As far as I know, anything that is legal is okay on the site. The receiver is the only part that has to be shipped to an FFL dealer or back to the manufacturer, even if it doesn't have a S/N on it... for example, rimfire receivers were not required to have a S/N until 1968, but still need to go through a dealer.
