I looked in all my usual places, Midway, Natchez, and Brownells, but i cannot seem to find anyone listing CZ magazines.

Anyone know where some may be sitting on a shelf? I have patience you know, it just doesn't last very long.... so I would like to find them and get them coming before I try and make my first organized shooting competition in over 20 years!! ha ha ha.... This CZ really has me pumped up. I shot a bunch of lead pills through it yesterday, to start getting it "broke in" . I put about 200 through it. I did not want to waste good ammo at this stage, since the barrel is just getting broken in, but here is a target I got out of some Winchester HV bulk HP ammmo out of the 500 round carton.... To say I am pleased is a big understatement. I am pretty sure I will be doing a full bedding job on this rifle, just to keep it consistent from week to week, but right now it is as is from the box.

---->> Attached Image This is 0.656" Outside to outside.

I am using reduced size targets printed from my computer....

It looks good for the rest of the week, as I get more pills down the range I may do a little testing with some better grade ammo.

Have you tried CZ USA's E-store? I haven't ordered any yet either and I don't know if they have them in stock or they can be purchased cheaper elsewhere but it's a thought. Let me know how it works out because I'll eventually need a couple as well. Good Luck with your search.

Thanks guys!! Cheaper than Dirt has them. $29 and a little change.

Got me 3 coming for matches. I think this CZ bug is going to need a vaccine pretty soon, or the old check book is going to get sick !!

:D

Love this site, and all the folks here... This kind of thing takes hours and hours of searching to find. I got my answer in 2 hours flat!!!
Seems that the order went through as they must be IN STOCK......

Hey, for targets, did you ever check out my target page? I make custom ones, and I've got a fair number posted as high-quality PDFs.

If you are going to shoot in matches that don't have a short time limit, you may want to order a single shot adapter. Bullets can be deformed when feeding from a magazine and that can hurt your score. BR shooters almost always single load. They're fine for practice, seasoning a barrel, timed events, silhouette, etc.

No, not yet!! where can I find that? Can you shoot a link to me? I am scrounging around the internet sites to get the ones I have and in doing so, found that almost half the sites I try to get targets from, are viral carriers, and my anti virus won't even let me open the page.

Carl, I never knew that. I have not been looking that close, but yes, if there is no time limit, I could use an adapter. I can see how scuffing one edge of the bullet nose would be like a broken rudder on the bullet, sending it on its own seek and destroy mission...

I am really pumped about how well these CZ's shoot. I feel fairly confident that with better gear, I could compete. The above target was shot from my office desk, out through the door, down towards my wooden berm. I am using only Wally World shooting bags, and I think the group above was shot with Winchester bulk 36gr. hollow points. Not exactly prime ammo fare for sure. However, in all fairness, it may be a fairly good lot, as I have had excellent groups with it in my 1022 and also my MAS 45 trainer.

I have a Caldwell Rock front shooting rest on the way, to be a little more competitive, a spotting scope for the wife to help me spot the shots, and some more target grade ammo to try... different versions, just a few boxes till I know what this rifle likes. But I think from what I can see, I feel like I should be able to shoot well enough to keep them all inside the 7 ring. and over half in the 9 / 10 ring. Which may not be that impressive, but for a first try, I feel that it should be good enough to not embarrass myself.

We shall see.... I wont get all the pieces and parts until Friday with the first opportunity to shoot being the very next day, in Lufkin, on Saturday, so I will go, but likely not compete. I just wont be ready with everything yet...

Thanks to all here for the addiction / affliction!! ha ha ha... i am loving it

There's a fairly decent selection of different patterns and layouts there. If you have any specific ideas for one you'd like to see, let me know and I can make it up for 'ya!

LongPlay, I've tried to direct you to a link here that has the USBR practice targets but the link is broken so I've sent you a PM with pdf files of the USBR practice targets instead.

Komitadjie, I've added you're target link to my bookmarks for future reference. Thanks for posting it. Between a few of the other sites and now your site I should have 100's of different types of targets available for printing.

Thanks Patrick and Komitadjie ....

I got most of all of them saved. I am going to start doing a test run tomorrow afternoon after the new scope arrives.

UPS and USPS will be making ruts in my driveway this week!!! ha ha ha

I feel Ok with the idea of bench rest. I do think I will learn a lot Saturday in Lufkin at the first match. I doubt I will
shoot in it, but I will still go, and watch how things work. And how they score the targets. I also would like to know how
the whole match is coordinated... how many shoot at a time, how much distraction is in the area, what rules I need to know
to follow. I have been at silhouette matches with several different clubs, and I find that the whole tone is determined by
how much of a "drill sergeant" with a power fetish you get as range master. I find most to be good and safe range masters,
then on the rare occasion, you get the ones that think they have been elected as God. I usually don't stay long at those.

I am anxious and interested to see how this goes.... But this does seem like a great sport. And one that I may even be able
to compete in.. I certainly cannot do the running and jumping sports any more at 58 and with the bum leg now....

:D

Please let us know how it goes with your first match. I'll bet if you take your rifle they'll talk you into shooting. We at NASA try by all means to be safe but we don't have the range "WARDEN's". Be safe and have fun. If it is not safe AND fun people will not come back. We have a pretty good "repeat business" due to the fun matches and good communication. Hope your first match is a good experience for you. Barry

Yeah, I see the info posted on all the matches, and fun things you guys do. I have no idea how busy the little range in Lufkin will be. I hope they have a similar set up, with some of the shooting games also. I have a rocket 1022 that I would love to do the little chickens and turkey shooting. I did the silhouette thing back in the 80's, but had to get out when my blood pressure and pulse rate made me not very competitive. I have meds for that now, and i have aged, giving me more patience for the shot. I think I would love to try it again, but on a game level as you guys do it.

I did some ammo testing, and so far Remington Target 22 is NOT the answer for this CZ.... for sure. Eley Sport seems better, but also has some stragglers out there. I am getting the distinct feeling this rifle is going to need bedding. It does seem to have tendencies to throw 4 or 5 into a tiny little ragged hole then throw 3 in a row to 3 different compass points, out 3/4" from the rest....

As Patrick has been advising me, there is more to this than first meets the eye... Truer words never spoken for sure. I just realized the difference in Bench Rest shooting and what I was doing informally.... I can get a nice 3/8" group at 50 yards with this new CZ, the problem is, with Bench Rest competition it is not "A" group you are after it is 5 groups, back to back, no fliers, no slips, no lazy rushed shots, no bad posture, etc. etc... and there seem to be no end to the etc.'s I am finding !!! ha ha ha

Yeah, i can see this game getting under my skin in a hurry!! Learning some techniques. Reading about what is being said both here and the "other" places, but , I read there not post.... i have had enough of that to last me a very long time.... But here, i have gotten a great deal of information and tips.... just need to get these desk jobs done, and off the desk, so I can shoot....

We're definately not the best here shooting BR but we will do all we can to help. I have 2 CZs I have shot BR with. The Varmint was my first and it needed bedding. It has shot in the upper 220s but has never made it to the 230s. I shoot a CZ American in our Sporter class and it has not been bedded. In fact, it is box stock. All I have done is loosen the trigger pull spring off as far as it would go. I have shot 3 or 4 USBR targets in the low to mid 230s with it. If you can get a hold of it try some SK Standard +. It will still have a flier every now and then but will shoot some nice scores. Barry
