How about starting this Saturday's (13th) 25/25 Pistol Match at 1:00 PM with the set up starting at noon? The sun would not be angling in until about 3:30. The temps would most likely be higher and in most cases, we have a better handle on any precip by that time of day.

Speaking of angles, I must admit to having one. I have to work until noon that day and the same again on March 13th. I would like to administer the match and I would like to shoot in the match. However, if you folks would rather shoot it in the morning, then I am sure I can find a sub to run the match.

By the way, I have every intention of starting (or my sub will) the Rapidfire Rimfire Fun Match immediately following the pistol match at whichever time we decide to start it.

If we make the temporary change, I will send an e-mail to every regular pistol shooter I know of beside posting a notice here and on the club board. I could even post a paper notice at the range about this. I will make phone calls to Ray C, Keith Mc, and Jack B as they are not very active on-liners.

Please give me your honest feedback.

Danny

Honestly I am all for it. I can get a good lunch before and get you know who up and going...lets do it.
A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove. But the world may be different, because I was important in the life of a child.

I prefer shooting in the morning unless it is very cold.

For the record, I have to work this weekend, so my input is acedemic. But I think I'd like afternoon matches. With the rotating shifts I work it'd mean I would be mostly awake when the match started!

Sounds like you read my mind :D , I was thinking until it warms up and time changes back so the sun is not in our faces to see what the USBR Shooters/Officers thought about it. It is just too cold at 9-10am and some shooters would like to come but they have to drive 50+ miles and it still might get called if this funky weather does not make up its mind, so it is an option I was seriously considering running by my USBR Officers to see what they thought about maybe a 10-10:30am setup time and a 10:30-11:00am start time until April especially with/until the Premium Match Ammo shortages are over. But back to the point I think it is a great idea with the weather and Sat. work schedules, I think some will love it and some hate it but you can’t please all the people all the time ;). "T"

Tony, I like the idea of going to 10:30 for USBR. I would think that would be a good time for all of the winter matches. I usually have things I need to do on Saturday afternoons, but shooting at 10:30-11 would still leave enough time. After 1:30 or so, the sun gets to be a real problem in seeing the targets.

I know we dont shoot alot of the matches with school sports, hunting and morgan not wanting to get out of bed so she wants to vote for the later start times. But on the other hand she usually finds something else thats more important to her than shooting anyway so were good with what ever the majority wants.

Keep in mind folks. I am not talking about a permanent change. I am talking about the next two pistol matches - February 13th and March 13th. And, the inconvenience caused to regular club members is part of the experiment. Even with the communication efforts that I mentioned above, we will likely inform but a few of our regular members. If several non-match folks show up in the afternoon hours wanting to use the rimfire range, then it will help us decide whether or not to try it in March or ever again, period. I think we would need to be conscious about keeping the pistol range tables clear and its facilities accessible.

It's worth a try at least once I think. If nothing else I'll get to sleep a little later this Saturday.

That's 7 for (at least to some degree or another) and 1 opposed.

I would like more input but this is actually a pretty good sampling of the Sheffield posters on RFS. And, it is Wednesday night and if we are going to do it, I need to start the communication mills running.

Let's try it. I will bust it over to Sheffield right at 12 and should be there by 12:30 at the latest. I will leave some 25/25 registration sheets in the top of the match tub in the officers' shed. If folks want to start setting up and signing up around 12 PM, that would be great.

I hope you can make it Peary.

I will call Ray C, Jack B, and Keith Mc. Please call anyone else you can think of. I will post a notice at the range, alter the calender's here and at NASACLUB along with making a post on that board and adding it to the header. We will hold off on changing March's pistol match until we see how this one goes.
